Nicely done Tad. Its interesting how artist can portray some of the mythological ideas so well. Good history of the artwork. The detail you pointed out lends a natural effect to the painting.
ReplyDeleteI was interested in the artwork created by Thomas Hart Benton. I found it very interesting the steps Benton used in creation process. Your presentation was very informative. Great Job!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI too am interested in Thomas Hart Benton. I have toured his house here in K.C. He was part of a group called the "Whiskey Painters". They experimented with the ingredients they put in their paint to see what the affects were. I liked your choice. It showed that he really studied the subject. He was a controversial artist making political statements in his artwork. I did not know the story behind this piece. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest, this might have been the least imaginative of all the presentations. This choice seemed like the easiest and required the least amount of effort in research. With the location of the artists home/studio in KC and a little more effort in trying to understand an artist you've not previously provided information in either in this class or another forum it would ahve been nice to see you stretch yourself and employ some of the skill/information learned from the class.

Greek Mythology is interesting, and that makes this picture rather interesting. I didn't realize there were ever so many steps in making a piece of art. That was surprising.
